Carlo Perassi

Me, July 1996

Born in 1973, and having graduated in 2000 in Computer Engineering (MsC) at Politecnico di Torino and the following year having been admitted to the professional association of the engineers of the Province of Torino, since 1996 I have been working as an independent consultant for government organizations and companies in Italy and abroad, mostly on projects related to the analysis and development of Free Software based web applications.

Experience

  • 2005 - 2009, 2011 - 2012: intensively modified the core of Joomla! and other activities as a GNU/Linux senior analyst and PHP5 web developer (CSI-Piemonte);
  • 2011: analysis and development of a Java PKCS#11/SOAP bridge (SISTRI);
  • 2010 - 2011:
    • developed a private enterprise Android Application (WOW SpA);
    • technical consultant for the Court of Pinerolo (2005, -);
  • 2003, 2010: collaborated in the customization of a large-scale software installation tool for GNU/Linux servers (TNT Global Express SpA);
  • 2009: collaborated in the study of processes and tools for client/server mobile applications (Dipartimento di Automatica e Informatica del Politecnico di Torino);
  • 2000 - 2006: taught 1,136+ hours of GNU/Linux related courses (CSEA ScpA, CSI-Piemonte, RAI, Regione Lombardia, Regione Piemonte, SCAI SpA, TNT Global Express SpA);
  • 2004: analysis and development of a sg-based user space Linux driver for the Olivetti PR6 printer (Gruppo Poste Italiane SpA);
  • 2003: International project (I, USA): modified a part of the immunochemistry software of the QNX based Immage 800 (Beckman Coulter Inc.);
  • 1999 - 2001: International project (DK, I, UK): analysis and development of the web server of the post doc microelectronics courses of the European Union (CoREP / Politecnico di Torino).

Free Software

  • 2006 - 2011: wrote trivial hacks: a set of small plugins for DokuWiki, Google Maps, Joomla, jQuery, WordPress and others, mostly AJAX/LAMP based;
  • 2010: developed JPA: a JSON based Android application retrieving partners' details of a generic company;
  • 2006:
    • contributed to The Honeynet Project with bup: an improved version of the Chuvakin's bash syslog patch listed on the FSF Directory (2003 - 2006);
    • contributed (with special mention) to Securing Debian Manual (2002 - 2006);
    • wrote tkp: trivial janitor patches mostly merged in Linux (2003 - 2006);
  • 2005:
    • developed knopILS: a Free Software only localized KNOPPIX (2003 - 2005);
    • contributed to the GSL as a minor author (2001 - 2005);
    • developed libsgc: a library to manage sg Linux driver (2004 - 2005).
